  • Celebration of World Environment Day by RCE Chandigarh at Punjab State Council for Science & Technology, Chandigarh.
‘World Environment Day’ was celebrated at Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST), Chandigarh by Regional Centre for Expertise (RCE )Chandigarh Global Network (with 129 partners all over world) on ‘Education for Sustainable Development ‘(ESD) of United Nations University – Institute of Advanced Studies Japan. A ‘Brainstorming Session’ was organized including 32 participants from DEEKSHA (a NGO) and different divisions of the Council.  Mrs. Ravleen ,Senior Programme Officer , PSCST gave a brief about the RCE network and its activities after a formal welcome note.  During the session, Dr. Satnam Singh Ladhar , Additional Director, PSCST highlighted and  discussed  the current year’s  theme’ `Small Island Developing States and Climate Change`, in context to local environment  as the impacts of climate change pose grievous threats to all of us and not just to the islands.  Other Council officials namely, Dr. J.K. Arora, Mr. Jain, Dr. Gulati, Dr. S.K. Saxena, Mr. Pritpal Singh, Mr. Pardeep Garg deliberated on environment conservation by sighting the Global, National and Regional examples such as water quality, waste management, degradation of natural resources, and unsustainable consumption. Further, Mrs Tripat Parmar ,Deeksha, urged  to act as the on the official slogan of the current year asserts ` Raise Your Voice, Not the Sea Level`, it`s time that we all act swiftly by doing something positive for the environment. A short movie on ‘Wetlands’, developed by PSCST was showcased to collect inputs on the same. Further, the clips on water conservation and water pollution were also shown to encourage positive action for the environment. The Session ended with a story-poem (shared by Ms. Neelam Sharma, Librarian, PSCST) of a deserted man in desert who expressed his feelings to her beloved  ‘I Love you like Water’ indicating the importance of water. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. J.K. Arora, Additional Director ( Biotechnology) , Punjab State Council for Science and Technology. Chandigarh.
  • Celebration of World Environment Day by Punjab ENVIS Centre in collaboration with PSCST, PRSC and ISRS(Ludhiana Chapter) at PRSC, PAU Ludhiana.
The event included a workshop(with Lectures & Presentations from experts), competitions (Painting, Presentation & Quiz) and Exibition at PRSC, PAU Ludhiana. The event culminated with prize distribution and presentation at PRSC campus.
