Publication of Newsletter

A Newsletter titled “Technological Developments in Pulverized Coal Fired Steel Re-rolling Mills for Energy Efficiency” (Vol. 12, Issue No. 4) was published by the ENVIS Centre in collaboration with Consultancy Cell, PSCST. The article discusses the  various energy efficiency  initiatives taken in steel –rerolling sector in Punjab like, demonstration of  energy conservation & pollution control measures in Mandi Gobindgarh cluster, capacity building and skill development activities carried out for workers & owners through formal offsite / onsite programmes, implementation of commercially viable energy efficient technology packages both in furnace as well as rolling section.

Participation in ICT Programme on Remote Sensing, GIS and GPS Application

ENVIS staff members, SPO and Project Associate (IT) participated in an ICT programme on Remote Sensing, GIS and GPS Application organized by National Institute of Technical Training Institute, Chandigarh from 25th -29th May 2015. Since the MoEF & CC, GoI is already planning to add GIS/Mapping facility on ENVIS websites and plans to provide detailed training on “Bhuvan Portal”, a geospatial tool. Thus, this training facilitated the ENVIS team to learn and get acquainted with the Remote Sensing/GIS Tools.

Workshop for Development of Training Module on “Environment” for Punjab School Teachers

SPO ENVIS participated as a resource person in a three day Workshop organized by RCE Chandigarh partner, State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) for Development of Training Module on “Environment” for Punjab School Teachers. The workshop was held at Punjab School Education Board, Mohali during 3rd - 5th June, 2015. The other members of content development team in the workshop were officials from SCERT, Principals and Teachers from Punjab Schools. During the workshop all the science books of classes 6th – 10th were examined for the environment content covered in each class. Based on the environmental topics in each class, four topics were identified namely, Biodiversity, Climate Change, Pollution and Management of Resources. A bilingual (English & Punjabi)  Module providing comprehensive  information  on aforesaid topics was prepared and based on these four topics, a full one day training workshops would be organized at district level in Punjab during July, 2015.
