Inami Bagh, the more than 100-year-old mango orchard at Bassi Umar Khan village in Hoshiarpur district, will be declared a national biodiversity heritage site. The orchard has 37 rare native varieties of the king of the fruits, with over 165 trees spread over 10-acre land. The government will provide the Punjab Biodiversity Board a grant of Rs 2 crore for acquisition of land for the heritage site and its preservation.
