1. Celebration at Siswan Community Reserve, SAS Nagar
The World Wetland Day was celebrated with enthusiasm with school students at Siswan Community Reserve, SAS Nagar to emphasize the importance of wetlands for human wellbeing. Around 130 students along with 10 teachers attended the event. The painting competition was organized on the theme ‘Wetlands and Human Wellbeing’ and the prizes were distributed to the best three students. An expert lecture on Importance of wetland for human wellbeing was also given by field expert and students were explained about benefits of wetlands, Ramsar sites and the wise use of wetlands.
2. Expert lecture on theme ‘Wetlands for human wellbeing’ at Punjabi University Patiala.
EIACP Hub Punjab also organized an expert lecture on theme ‘Wetlands for human wellbeing’ at Punjabi University Patiala to disseminate the message of safeguarding wetlands for people and nature. A detailed knowledge of wetland assessment and monitoring was given by Dr. Onkar Singh Brraich, Associate Professor, Department of Zoology and Environmental Sciences, Punjabi University, Patiala. Around 60 students attended the lecture.
